NVIDIA Broadcast: How To Remove All Noises From Microphone Audio and Add Background Effects to Video Calls Using for Free.

Day by day, it is becoming evident that more and more companies are allowing their employees to work from home. Even after we move on from the pandemic, this trend might continue. One of the many drawbacks of this is the need for video conferencing every day, be it professional or a casual meeting with friends or family. It is noticed that many people have a lot of background noise in their microphone inputs, such as air conditioning, ceiling/table fans, or the high frequency whirring noise from the blades of a gaming laptop’s cooling system.

In order to combat these problems, NVIDIA released an application known as NVIDIA Broadcast, which was earlier known as RTX voice. As the name suggests, it works only on RTX-enabled GPUs, the minimum requirement being an RTX 2060 graphics card or above. As I will demonstrate, this application does in fact remove all the noise from the microphone and makes it seem as if the user is sitting in a silent room, especially useful for office meetings or streaming, providing an ultimate audio and visual experience.

How to install NVIDIA Broadcast?

This application can be downloaded and installed from the official NVIDIA website here:(https://www.nvidia.com/en-in/geforce/broadcasting/broadcast-app/) .

Simply download the executable and install using the on screen instructions.

Microphone Settings

Under the microphone tab, first select your default microphone, which will be used to input your voice –

After selecting your microphone, click on the “ADD EFFECT” button and choose Noise Removal. As of now, only 2 options are there – Noise Removal and Echo Removal. Both of these can be used simultaneously and you can also change the strength of the effect.

For the convenience of the users, there is a record and play button just beside the settings, so the user can record their audio and see the performance in real time and adjust the strength dials in real time, according to their preferences.

Following is an audio clip recording of the same speech command given with and without the effects.

Video Effects

NVIDIA Broadcast provides a range of effects such as background removal, custom background replacement, background blur, video noise removal and auto frame. This customization has been demonstrated by me in a video shown below.

As shown in the article, this application can take your streaming/video conferencing game to the next level, provided you have an RTX enabled graphics card.
